The Srinagar Tulip Garden: when to go and what to know
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden sits on the Zabarwan foothills above Dal Lake, with well over a million bulbs across terraced beds.
When it opens
Usually the last week of March, staying open roughly three weeks into mid-April. Exact dates depend on the winter and are announced only a week or two ahead. Peak bloom is normally the first ten days of April.
Tips
- Go early morning, on a weekday if you can - it gets busy
- Combine it with Nishat and Shalimar gardens next door
- Almond blossom at Badamwari is at its best around the same time
Building a trip around it
An early-April trip pairs the tulips with a green-enough Gulmarg and a quiet Pahalgam. See the Classic Kashmir circuit or ask us for a spring-specific plan.
