Vaishno Devi & Jammu

This route combines a Vaishno Devi pilgrimage with the hill stations and cave shrines around Jammu.

The core of the trip is Katra, the base town for the Mata Vaishno Devi yatra. The walk to the Bhawan is about 12 km and can be done on foot, by pony, palki or battery car, with a helicopter option from Katra to Sanjichhat. Around it, most itineraries add the Shiv Khori cave shrine, the pine slopes and meadows of Patnitop, Nathatop and Sanasar, and sometimes a stop at Amritsar for the Golden Temple.

Packages usually run 2 to 6 nights, arriving into Jammu by train or the Jammu (IXJ) airport. The yatra runs year-round; spring and autumn are the most comfortable, and the Navratri period is the busiest.
